Types of conveyor belts

  1. Conveyor belt is one of the practical devices in industries. Most of you have seen this transportation system in person or in the media. Conveyor belt is one of the main components of belt material transfer system. If we want to define and examine this device from the lexical point of view, we can say; Because the system moves in a strip and in one direction and also uses a belt for transportation, it is called a conveyor belt system. (Conveyor: a combination of transfer, tape: like a roll that is continuously rotating, and belt: the main mode of the conveyor system is in the form of a belt, and this is how it starts to work.)
    What is a conveyor belt?
As mentioned above, the conveyor belt is the main part of the carrier in a belt transmission system. In this way, the belt is moved by an electric motor and gearbox and rotates along a fixed and specific path around an axis. Bearings and pulleys are used in parts of this system to facilitate rotation and minimize friction and noise. Finally, by placing materials, goods and products on this transmission system, the conveyor belt guides it from the beginning to the end and vice versa.
This device is mostly used for loading and unloading. Italy, Germany, England, and the United States are among the leading conveyor belt manufacturers in the world. Due to the expansion and prosperity of the conveyor belt system, it can be said that the conveyor belt is one of the basic and integral components in every industry. So that we see the use of this up-to-date system in most industries and factories.
    History
According to the investigations carried out in this field, it was found that the conveyor belt was used for the first time in the 19th century. In 1892, a person named Thomas Robbins invented a device called a conveyor belt by using an orderly set of products. At that time, this product was used to transport minerals such as coal and ore. After the passage of almost a decade in 1901, a huge change took place in this system. So that Mr. Sandvik succeeded in making and producing steel cord conveyor belts. This conveyor belt with high resistance and strength was recognized as one of the best conveyor belts in the world in those years.
Then, in 1905, an inventor named Richard Sutcliffe designed and produced for the first time in the world a special conveyor belt for transporting coal in mines. His invention created a huge revolution in the mining industry; So that this transportation system was widely accepted and used in all parts of the world. In general, it can be said that this system reached its peak of change and evolution in 1913 at the Ford automobile factory and in 1957 at the Goodrich rubber company. To the extent that in 1972 they succeeded in designing and producing the longest transmission system in the world, 13.8 km long in France. In 1970, Interlax company in Lubiziana succeeded in manufacturing and producing rubber conveyor belts. This transmission system had a longer life and more layers compared to other models. According to the mentioned conditions, this company was able to register the exclusive right of the product in its name.
    Conveyor belt structure
After answering the question “What is a conveyor belt?” It is necessary to learn more about the structure of this system. Therefore, in this section, we will examine the structure of the conveyor belt.
In general, the conveyor belt has one or more layers. In the lowest possible case, this system has three layers of upper rubber cover, manjid and lower rubber cover. To increase the resistance in the length and width of the conveyor belt, the messengers are woven in the form of taropod. According to the type, place and amount of use of the messengers, it is different.
In general, the most common messengers in the market are steel, polyester, nylon, linen and aramid. For better performance and beauty of the conveyor belt, rubber or plastic covering layers are placed on both sides of it. Of course, remember that if the goal of setting up a conveyor belt system is more durability, they use metal conveyor belts. For example, steel conveyor belts are used in mines to transport stones and heavy parts. These conveyor belts have a resistance of more than 10,000 newtons/mm. In addition, conveyor belts with aramid layers have a resistance of 2250 N/mm with longer life and more productivity. Therefore, they are used in most coal mines in China such as Baodin.
Types of conveyor belts (types of conveyor belts)
The conveyor belt has the following types:
Conveyor belts for light and heavy industries; This conveyor belt is used in most industries for moving, unloading and loading.
Conveyor belt resistant to chemicals; This transfer system is used in most factories producing chemical materials and equipment. This model of conveyor belt with high resistance to chemical reactions has the lowest amount of failure during work.
V-shaped conveyor belts; This conveyor belt is often used to move bulk materials such as plaster, cement, corn, flour, etc. In addition, it prevents bulk materials from spilling around and along the conveyor belt.
    Ribbed conveyor belt
    Modular conveyor belt
Messenger conveyor belt; This type of conveyor belt has high resistance and strength with several layers as well as strong and integrated threads.
Steel cord conveyor belt (made of steel)
PVC conveyor belt; This transmission system is used in food, pharmaceutical and health industries.
Conveyor belts resistant to wear and erosion, oil and high temperatures
Timing conveyor belt; In this system, the conveyor belt starts working at a specific time and is disabled after that.
PU conveyor belt for food and light industries
